BelAir Networks Named Best of Show at Wi-Fi Planet Fall for Mesh Infrastructure
New BelAir100 Wins Best Infrastructure Mesh Product
KANATA, ONTARIO, December 7, 2004 - BelAir Networks, the leading supplier of Wide Area Wi-Fi solutions, is pleased to announce that its BelAir100 Multi-Service Wireless Switch Router was named "Best in Show" at Wi-Fi Planet San Jose in the mesh infrastructure category. The awards are presented to exhibiting companies that display the most compelling technologies or services released in the past six months.
"With a strong competition for the award this year, our judges narrowed the list of eligible exhibitors to those who had demonstrated significant innovation in their category," said Wi-Fi Planet Managing Editor, Eric Griffith. "BelAir Networks BelAir100 takes outdoor mesh networks to the next level by allowing the extension of the network without the full expense."
The BelAir100 can be used as a standalone product to provide coverage in large indoor venues such as sports arenas, airports or shopping malls; to provide wireless broadband access to single buildings; or it can be used as a mesh edge node in a larger BelAir system that includes the BelAir200.
Editors of Wi-FiPlanet.com, "The Source for Wi-Fi Business and Technology," chose the five best products or services on display in the exhibit hall. These products and services were selected and awarded for technical achievement in the Wi-Fi networking space. Winning categories included: hotspots; mesh infrastructure; security and management; network design; and equipment.
About the BelAir100
The BelAir100 can be mounted directly on light poles in parking lots or on city street lights. For indoor applications, it can be mounted directly on a wall and project a backhaul link to BelAir units outside the building or provide Wi-Fi access to clients indoors. The flexible mounting options enable customers to integrate the unit seamlessly into their physical and network infrastructures. Each unit features a rugged outdoor enclosure, brackets for pole mount or wall mount, a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port, one 2.4 GHz access antenna and one 5 GHz backhaul antenna.
A typical configuration of the platform's two-radio chassis will include one access radio module and one backhaul radio module using the integral antennas. Any combination of two radio modules is possible, although some will require the use of external antennas.
The BelAir100 is available now for both North American and European deployments.
