BelAirOS Policy Enforcement Point
For Tier 1 service providers, Wi-Fi access is no longer limited to disparate hotspots, operated and managed apart from their other wireless or wireline networks. Wi-Fi has become an extension of the carrier network infrastructure. The scalability, service delivery potential and operating costs of the Wi-Fi access network are directly impacted by how it is integrated with existing edge and core networks. To optimize network resource utilization and service mix, the BelAirOS Policy Enforcement Point (PEP) module embeds policy enforcement, traditionally an edge network based function, into any BelAir Networks Access Point (AP). BelAirOS PEP integrates directly with the carrier policy management in the core, reducing resource requirements in the edge while supporting differentiated service levels.
